VisitCornwall Tender Won by The Carrier Group
30th JUNE 2009
Cornwall, like so many UK holiday destinations, is enjoying a significant increase in consumer interest this year. To meet the growing demand for information, VisitCornwall, the county’s tourist board, continues to produce a wide range of literature to meet the varied needs of visitors. With over half a million brochures, guides and leaflets to distribute, they have once again offered the contract out to tender and for the second year Devon based marketing services company The Carrier Group have been successful.
Having successfully tendered for the 2008/9 VisitCornwall brochure mailing and distribution contract, The Carrier Group’s M.D. Bob Carter was delighted with the outcome of this year’s tendering process:
“This is one of a number of prestigious contracts we have successfully tendered for in the past twelve months. Destinations such as Bournemouth, Blackpool, Carmarthenshire, Guernsey and Wiltshire have all come on board for 2009. Against a generally bad economic outlook we are very pleased to be winning work like this, we can continue developing our services whilst reinvesting in new technology, both of which will enable us to retain clients such as VisitCornwall, and attract new customers for the future.”

In a county where it is estimated that tourism revenue exceeded £1.5 billion in 2007, VisitCornwall is hoping the increase in interest will translate into increased bookings and sustain the local economy through the recession.
Teresa Timms commented on behalf of VisitCornwall:
“Not only do we need partners who can deliver both value for money and added value but for this tender the ability to manage the distribution of 4 different brochures totalling over 500,000 different items of print was also very important. The Carrier Group has demonstrated its skills as a mailing house with the added value coming from significant cost savings on postage which we can put to good use with additional marketing activity.”
The Carrier Group is at the forefront of UK tourism marketing, employing both traditional mailing methods and more groundbreaking internet techniques. They currently employ over 70 full time staff in their Barnstaple warehouse and offices, with more expansion planned through their new Durham office.
